Case Study
Biosers Ltd
Biosers Technologies Ltd is a recent spin-out from the University of Strathclyde focused on rapid food-safety diagnostics, particularly the detection of Listeria monocytogenes, one of
the most dangerous foodborne pathogens.
What problem are they solving?
Current Listeria testing methods typically require samples to be sent to a laboratory and can take anywhere from 1 to 7 days to produce results. During that waiting period, food manufacturers may have to hold inventory, halt production, or risk contaminated products reaching consumers.
Project
Biosers were looking for a F/T hire to support the development of their technology to support the aggresive drive towards commercialisation.
“Over the years STEM continues to provide excellent consultation and results to myself. I spoke with the STEM team, they managed my expectations and exceeded them. They understand the industry, small business and foresee many of the recruitment hurdles.
“STEM helped us draw up the job description and had an immediate database of suitable candidates to draw upon. One week to source, interviews(x3) and an accepted offer within 2 weeks. Outstanding!
It can be difficult to justify recruitment fees when starting up however, STEM provide exemplary support to deep domain knowledge which both shorten the recruitment time and reduced the team involvement to a far more manageable level essentially saving the company money.
Having the relationship with STEM, having them understand our blueprint and our culture presents the opportunity for Bioser technologies to grow at pace when the next round of investment arrives.”
